The purpose of this unit of work is for children to understand how toys have changed over time by examining their own toys, and then comparing these to toys from the past. By developing children’s knowledge of the characteristics of toys past and present, children will be able to sort toys using specified criteria and recognise key similarities and differences. This unit builds on from learning in Reception where children typically examine their own personal histories.
