Ready Steady Write engages your youngest writers through musical Story Songs! These songs help children understand the plot and structure of simple stories while developing their oracy and vocabulary.

In Ready Steady Write, every class develops a working wall which their teacher adds to each lesson. These working walls show the writing process, vocabulary explored, spelling rules covered and all other incidental learning. This learning being displayed helps children apply their new skills and knowledge to their final writing outcome.

Inspiring Primary Writing Working Walls

At Literacy Counts, we are proud to see Banks Road Primary School's expert implementation of the Ready Steady Write working walls in every classroom. These meticulously crafted displays adapt daily to teaching, effectively modeling the writing process and providing necessary scaffolds for all students. Each working wall prominently features spelling, vocabulary, grammar, handwriting, and phonics materials, ensuring comprehensive support for writing.

The working walls at Banks Road carefully follow the Ready Steady Write sequence of Immerse, Analyse, Plan, and Write. The visuals to match this sequence are available to download on the membership. This structured approach fosters children's oracy and enhances their writing stamina. Students develop writing independence by regularly referring to these walls, quickly internalising the learning sequence and building on their skills throughout each unit and year group. Banks Road’s commitment to maintaining these dynamic, interactive working walls significantly enhances the literacy development of their students, reflecting the school’s dedication to high-quality education.
