In this professional development course delegates will have the opportunity to carefully consider the quality of the intent, implementation and impact of their schools’ reading curriculums.

The session will include:

  • Ways to prioritise reading across the school

  • A consideration of adequate pace and progression in the teaching of phonics

  • The application of skill and knowledge in reading

  • The use of environmental audits and how they can enhance provision

  • Ways to develop a love of reading across the school

  • Using audits to support planning for next steps and whole school improvement

  • Using tracking documentation to ensure early identification of pupils who will need additional support
