Effective environments provoke a desire in children to show you what they can do and what they know. The environment plays a crucial role in supporting and extending children’s development and learning. Phonics for Reading and Phonics for Writing will explore how both outdoor and indoor environments can maximise the potential and opportunity for children’s application of phonics skills for decoding (reading words) and encoding (spelling words).
Attending this course will provide practitioners with:
a clear understanding of effective environments for reading & writing development and progression
knowledge of end-of-year expectations in Year 1 and EYFS
environmental audits with key action plans
the skill to maximise the opportunities for the application of ‘purposeful phonics’ for decoding and spelling.
