Phonics Package of Support: School Improvement Counts

We help practitioners teach phonics effectively. We do this by providing high quality in-school support and through modelling phonics teaching. We also provide diagnostic assessments which ensure that classroom provision enables accelerated progress in the application of phonics skills and knowledge. In short, our support balances the teaching of phonics for reading (decoding) and phonics for writing (encoding). We also provide support for Year 1 and Year 2 teachers on the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check.

  • X2 Further Phonics Early Language Leader support which may include: Phonics and early reading curriculum overview, action planning, policy audits, monitoring, tracking, diagnostic assessments, modelling teaching of phonics, team teaching and environmental audits
  • X1 day 1:1 phonics planning surgeries with teachers
  • X1 day observation of Teaching and Learning

  •  1.5 days subject Leader support (0.5 day per term)
  • X3 Professional Development  Staff Meeting
  • X2 Further Phonics Early Language Leader support which may include: Phonics and early reading curriculum overview, action planning, policy audits, monitoring, tracking, diagnostic assessments, modelling teaching of phonics, team teaching and environmental audits
  • X1 day modelling fundamental pedagogies

  • X3 days termly planning surgeries with individual teachers
  • X4 delegate places on additional Continual Professional Development courses
